Community Connection: Spotlight on Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels
Posted on April 19, 2020 by Laura LuckyWHAT THEY DO:
Named for a brave young lady that succumbed to cancer at age 12, this organization has been created to provide comfort and care to other pediatric patients. While undergoing chemotherapy, Amanda Hope envisioned and designed a shirt that allowed patients to remain covered while medical professionals are accessing the chemotherapy port, in an effort to give other children more dignity during treatments. Her dream became realized with the Comfycozys for Chemo apparel that is now provided free of charge to young patients.
Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels has several initiatives in the care and support for children battling cancer and other blood-related disorders. They include:
Major Distractions: They host fun events for patients such as craft days, spa days, sports camps, and teen nights.
Comfycozy Gifts: Comfycozy Care Packs include the port-friendly apparel, a comfort pack while hospitalized, and a celebration bag for when they finish treatment.
Comfort & Care: Free counseling, therapy, and supportive services are offered to patients and their families.
Financial Assistance: Help for families facing large treatment bills.
