Community Connection: Spotlight on Ben’s Bells
Posted on July 12, 2019 by Laura LuckyWHAT THEY DO:
Founded and named in honor of young Ben who died just under the age of three, the mission of Ben’s Bells is to teach individuals and communities about the positive impacts of intentional kindness and to inspire people to practice kindness as a way of life. Ben’s family found that the kindness offered by the community upon his death helped with the sadness and pain; and worked to find a way to encourage kindness within our society.
Bells are handcrafted by volunteers which are then hung randomly in public places with an invitation to take one home and to celebrate, honor, and recognize the importance of practicing kindness.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Donate – Your financial assistance is always appreciated.
Volunteer – Each month thousands of people volunteer at the Ben’s Bells studios. Pieces of the bell are sculpted from clay, kiln fired and then assembled. By the time a bell is finished, at least 10 people will have participated in its creation.
Kindness Education – Ben’s Bells Kindness Education Programs offer speaking opportunities for education, recognition, and celebration in a variety of venues, including schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities.
Shop – Purchase handmade items from the online store that inspire kindness and purpose-driven gifting.
