Community Connection: Spotlight on Maggie’s Place
Posted on November 16, 2018 by Laura LuckyWHAT THEY DO:
Maggie’s Place supports pregnant and parenting women and their children who need a safe and welcoming community to provide support and services to help them become self-sufficient. There are now four maternity and two transitional homes in Arizona. There, women and children are offered social connections and opportunities to learn skills, including job readiness.
Pregnancy at a young age often interrupts educational pursuits and early employment experiences. Programs at Maggie’s Place are in place to prepare these young mothers to live independently, and to build stability in their family relationships. Further, a child development and enrichment aspect of the program aims to provide skill-building programming to support kindergarten readiness.
